Reception (Foundation Stage)
Classes 5 and 6
November 2009
This term in Reception we have been busy looking at Pantomimes and traditional stories.
We started with the story of the Gingerbread Man where we looked at story language and the structure of stories. Class six have also made a video of the story to use in their assembly.
The next story we looked at was The Little Red Hen. As part of this we were fortunate enough to have class trips to the Cooperative Farm in Ashby St Ledgers. Here we were able to look at the machinery that the farmer uses to collect the crops, including the combine harvesters! We saw where the different crops were stored afterwards. The children were then very excited when we were able to make pizzas to take home.
The next story we have looked at is Cinderella, and we even received a letter from Prince Charming telling us all about what the Ugly Sisters were like to Cinderella.
From this we were able to think about how we should treat other people, and what being a friend is all about. Prince Charming also invited us to his Ball where we danced and had food and drink.
