Year 2 have been on a trip to a local farm. The farm is at Ashby St Ledgers and it runs courses for children as part of the Co-op’s Farm to Fork scheme.

 

We all had to take wellies and warm clothes as we were digging for worms and planting seeds. While one group was outside, the rest of the class were inside making pizzas.

 

The children were shown how crops are planted, how they grow and how they are harvested. They learnt about how the crops are turned into flour and oil, and other things that we use to make our food and drink.

 

We are hoping to visit the farm again in the summer to see what things have grown and changed.
