Environmental Education

Environmental Education

Since September, I have had the opportunity to be responsible for the Environmental Room.  I have helped to make sure resources have been accessible to all year groups and the children continue to enjoy using the room.  Environmental Education is embedded into the Science curriculum, as well as being part of our drive to raise the awareness of the environment through reducing waste, reusing materials, recycling products, looking after plants and animals and understanding our complex surroundings.

This year the children have worked in the room with many visitors, including planting with the Country Park Rangers and washing hands with Environmental Health.

We are also developing our vegetable and herb garden around the side of the building with the help of Exel in Daventry.  The children are already contributing to the garden by Reception planting seeds, then Year 1 transferring those seeds to compost bags, and finally Year 2 will plant the beans in the garden with the hope of harvesting our crop.
