The Rosie Seeney Garden

Our fantastic vegetable garden is named after Rosie Seeney, who was not only a parent but a dear friend of the school. Rosie helped to raise the money for the garden and also helped out with the digging and layout. Sadly, Rosie died earlier this year and as a school we thought naming the garden after her would help to pay tribute to such a kind and caring person.

Getting the gardens ready

As you can see from the photo, the children are starting to get the gardens ready for planting. We are so fortunate as a school to have this facility as it provides children with the opportunity to have hands on experience when finding out about food and where it comes from, as well as how to care for the world around us. Children also develop a sense of achievement and pride in their work as well as working together to produce something.

The school’s gardening club starts soon and I am sure that they are all very keen and excited to get into the garden and spend extra time digging and planting. Hopefully the weather is going to be kind to us and we shall have a bumper harvest!
