World Book Day 2009

As part of World Book Day on Thursday 5^th March 2009, the children at St James took part in a variety of reading and book activities.  The Year 2 children visited the Abbey Junior School, where they were partnered with a pupil from Year 6 to share a book. The children took a favourite book from St James to share with their new friend and the Year 6 pupils read a book of their choice. The visit was a great success as it was also a chance for the Year 2 children to experience time at the Abbey Junior, as many will be starting there in September.

Other children in the school had a story afternoon where all Year 1 and Reception children could choose a story they wanted to listen to. All the adults in school chose a favourite story to read and the children went with the adult of their choice to enjoy hearing a story.
